Publication Ethics
Al-Lughoh: Journal of Arabic Language and Arabic Literature is a reputable scientific journal managed and published by the Shalahuddin Al-Ayyubi Islamic Boarding School Foundation. This journal is present as an academic media that provides publication space for researchers, academics, and practitioners in the fields of Arabic language and Arabic literature. Its main focus is to present scientific articles that are sourced from in-depth thinking and original research results, either in the form of research reports, theoretical studies, literature reviews, or critical scientific comments on contemporary issues in Arabic language and literature science.
As a journal committed to academic integrity, Al-Lughoh upholds international scientific publication ethics standards. This commitment is reflected in its compliance with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, which are globally recognized as the main reference in maintaining publication ethics. Every article submitted to Al-Lughoh must go through a strict selection and review process to ensure its originality, scientific accuracy, and scientific contribution. Authors submitting manuscripts are required to state that their writing is their own work, has never been published, and is not under consideration in another journal. They must also state that the submitted manuscript is free from plagiarism and disclose any potential conflicts of interest, both in the form of material and non-material benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
In carrying out the editorial process, Al-Lughoh has a systematic structure and work system. The Editor-in-Chief plays a major role in determining the eligibility of the submitted articles for publication. The decisions taken are not only based on the academic quality of the article, but also consider the internal policies of the editorial board and legal aspects, such as copyright infringement and defamation. In the decision-making process, the Editor-in-Chief can consult with other editorial teams or reviewers to obtain more objective considerations. Before the article is published, the manuscript will first be evaluated by the editor/co-editor. This process includes checking for originality through plagiarism software, then the manuscript will be forwarded to two reviewers for blind peer-review. The reviewers will assess the eligibility of the manuscript to be published, modified, or rejected, based on strong scientific arguments. This stage takes at least one month after the reviewer has expressed his willingness, although in certain cases, such as very good or very weak articles, decisions can be made more quickly.
In addition to ensuring the validity and integrity of the article's content, the editor-in-chief is also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all manuscripts. Information contained in the manuscript must not be disseminated to outside parties, other than the author, reviewer, potential reviewer, editorial advisor, and publisher. The editor must also ensure scientific fairness, namely evaluating manuscripts without discrimination against the author's personal background, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship, or political views.
The Role and Ethics of Reviewers
Reviewers or bestari partners play a central role in ensuring the scientific quality of the journal. They are tasked with reviewing the contents of the manuscript objectively, fairly, and based on academic principles. Reviewers are not allowed to involve elements of personal criticism of the author. The views expressed must be supported by logical and clear arguments, and aim to improve the quality of the manuscript.
The aspect of confidentiality is also highly respected by reviewers. Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be used for personal gain. Reviewers are also expected to identify relevant sources that have not been cited by the authors, and to report any content that is similar or overlapping with other articles of which they are aware. If there is a potential conflict of interest, whether due to professional relationships, institutional affiliations, or personal relationships, reviewers are required to decline to review the manuscript.
When a reviewer feels unable to complete his/her task within the specified time, he/she is required to inform the editor so that the manuscript can be immediately transferred to another reviewer. This is important to maintain the efficient and timely flow of the editorial process.
Author Obligations
Authors who contribute to Al-Lughoh are required to meet high academic reporting standards.
